Douglas A. Gray has spent more than three decades turning data into business results across data and analytics, IT, e-commerce, and consulting. Over the course of his career, the analytics and AI programs he has led are credited with generating more than $3 billion in business value, and his teams have earned industry recognition including the Teradata EPIC Award and the FICO Decision Management Innovation Award.
Douglas helped pioneer the use of analytics in airline operations as an early member of American Airlines Decision Technologies and as a founding CTO of Travelocity, one of the first major online travel companies. Today he is Director of Data Science at Walmart Global Tech, where he works on optimizing end-to-end fulfillment. Through his company, Optima Analytics, he also advises organizations on digital transformation and analytics strategy.
Alongside his industry work, Douglas teaches analytics and AI strategy at SMU. He holds an MBA from SMU, an MS in Operations Research from Georgia Tech, and a BS in Mathematical Sciences from Loyola University Maryland, a foundation that spans rigorous quantitative methods and executive-level business judgment.
