Prerequisites

The AI Dev Tools Zoomcamp is approachable for anyone who writes code. You don’t need prior experience with AI tools.

Required skills

Before you start, you should have:

• A basic ability to program in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or a similar language.
• Comfort with the command line.
• Git and GitHub basics.

You do not need

You can start without:

• Prior experience with AI tools, coding assistants, or agents. The course introduces them from the start.
• Prior web development or Docker experience. Familiarity helps, but the course introduces the parts you need.
• A powerful machine. A standard laptop is enough. Hosted models and cloud APIs handle the computationally intensive work.

Intended audience

The course is for anyone who writes code and wants to use AI tools with an explicit engineering workflow. Software developers, ML and MLOps engineers, and AI engineers can apply the material. It’s also relevant to data scientists, data engineers, analysts, and technical students.

This isn’t a non-technical AI introduction. We also don’t focus on model training, fine-tuning, vector databases, or RAG.
