Stefan Jansen is the founder and CEO of Applied AI, an advisory practice that helps Fortune 500 companies, investment firms, and startups shape data and AI strategy, build data science teams, and develop end-to-end machine learning solutions. His work bridges strategy and hands-on delivery, from framing the first use case to putting models into production.
Before his current venture, Stefan was a partner and managing director at an international investment firm, where he built the predictive analytics and investment research practice. He also served as a senior executive at a global fintech company with operations in 15 markets, advised Central Banks in emerging markets, and consulted for the World Bank. His career has taken him across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, working in six languages along the way.
Stefan is the author of Machine Learning for Algorithmic Trading, a widely used resource on applying machine learning to market data, now in its second edition and backed by a popular open source library. He holds Master’s degrees in Computer Science from Georgia Tech and in Economics from Harvard and Free University Berlin, is a CFA Charterholder, and has taught data science at DataCamp and General Assembly.
