Philippe Saadé leads AI and machine learning initiatives at Wikimedia Deutschland as AI/ML Project Manager. His current work centers on a compelling challenge: making Wikidata, the collaborative knowledge base, accessible to AI applications so that machines can work with the world’s open knowledge.

Two projects define that effort. The Wikidata vector database brings embedding-based search to structured knowledge, and the Wikidata Model Context Protocol exposes Wikidata to AI tools through a standard interface. Together they lower the barrier for developers and researchers who want to ground AI systems in reliable, openly licensed data. By bridging the worlds of open knowledge and applied AI, Philippe works at a frontier that keeps growing in importance as large language models and knowledge-based systems converge.
