Matt Harrison is a corporate trainer, consultant, and author focused on practical data science with Python and pandas. He has worked with various startups and companies, architecting data science solutions, business intelligence, storage, open source stack support, search, and high availability systems. That hands-on consulting experience feeds directly into the training and courses he delivers to data teams.

He is a prolific author in the Python data space. His book Effective Pandas has become a widely recommended guide to using pandas well, built on years of teaching and consulting with the library. His first pandas book, Learning the Pandas Library, was one of the earliest books on the subject, and he later rewrote and updated the second edition of Pandas Cookbook, reworking nearly all of its code.

Matt holds a computer science degree from Stanford University. When he is not teaching or writing, he posts about data science topics and his hobbies, which include frisbee, mostly ultimate and goaltimate, gardening, and outdoor activities such as skiing, trail running, hiking, climbing, and biking.
