Lavanya Gupta is a Senior AI/ML Applied Scientist at JPMorgan Chase, where she works in the bank’s specialized Machine Learning Center of Excellence (MLCOE). Her current focus is on evaluating and prototyping large language models in real-world settings, including benchmarking long-context LLM performance for financial industry use cases. She is an alumna of the Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at Carnegie Mellon University, one of the leading research institutes for language technologies and AI.
With a strong industrial research background of more than five years, Lavanya is also an enthusiastic technical speaker who has delivered talks at events including Women in Data Science (WiDS) 2021, PyData, Illuminate AI 2021, the TensorFlow User Group (TFUG), and the MindHack! Summit. She serves as a reviewer for top international NLP conferences such as NeurIPS 2024, ICLR 2025, and NAACL 2025.
Lavanya is committed to mentoring young and aspiring machine learning enthusiasts through collaborations with organizations like AnitaB.org and Women in Coding and Data Science (WiCDS), and she writes about applied AI on her blog.
