Laurence Moroney

Laurence Moroney leads AI Advocacy at Google, where his mission is to make AI easy for developers and to widen access to machine learning careers for everyone. In that role he builds courses, samples, and learning paths that take developers from their first neural network to production-ready models. A firm believer that MOOCs are one of the greatest ways to learn, he created TensorFlow specializations with DeepLearning.AI on Coursera, opening ML skills to learners around the world.

Laurence has written dozens of programming books. Among the most recent is AI and Machine Learning for Coders, published by O’Reilly, which teaches developers how to build ML-powered applications without needing an advanced math background first. His teaching style favors practical, code-first explanations that get working models into learners’ hands quickly, and he has become one of the most recognizable educators in the TensorFlow community.

When he is not working with technology, Laurence is an active member of the Science Fiction Writers of America. He has authored several science fiction novels and comic books, and has written a produced screenplay. He is based in Washington state, where he drinks far too much coffee while writing about both the present and the future.
