Florian Hoenicke has spent 10 years working in the AI field across some of Europe’s most demanding organizations, including Axel Springer, Deloitte, and SoundCloud. That path gave him a rare spread of experience: media, consulting, and consumer platforms, each with different data, different constraints, and different expectations of what artificial intelligence should deliver.

Today, Florian is a Principal Engineer at Jina AI, where he leads the technical development of prompt engineering and embedding models technology. Working at the heart of the modern language model stack, he focuses on the pieces that make neural search and generative applications actually work: how prompts are designed and how text, images, and other data are turned into embeddings that systems can search and reason over.

Florian’s expertise reaches beyond engineering into policy. He serves as an AI policy advisor, providing explanations and insights to members of the European Parliament to enhance their understanding of artificial intelligence. Few people are equally comfortable explaining model internals to engineers and explaining AI capabilities and risks to lawmakers, and that dual fluency defines his career.
