Dr Evan Shellshear is the Managing Director and Group CEO of Ubidy, a global AI-driven recruitment marketplace. Over a career spanning more than 15 years, he has developed and deployed AI and optimization algorithms across a wide range of sectors, building a reputation for turning advanced mathematics into systems that deliver measurable business results.
Evan’s academic grounding is in mathematics and economics. He studied mathematics at the University of Queensland and at Universitaet Bielefeld in Germany, and earned his PhD in Mathematical Economics from the University of Bielefeld, specializing in Game Theory. He has worked with the Fraunhofer Society on advanced AI projects and served as CEO of Biarri, and he shares his expertise with students and industry as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology, focusing on AI and business analytics.
A committed author and communicator, Evan has written four books and close to 100 articles on data science and AI. His most recent book, Why Data Science Projects Fail, co-authored with Douglas Gray, draws on decades of frontline experience to explain why AI and analytics implementations so often fall short, and what organizations can do to make them succeed.
