Cathy Chen

Cathy Chen, CPCC, MA, specializes in coaching technology leaders as they develop their own skills in leading teams. She draws on a career that spans technical program manager, product manager, and engineering manager roles, leading teams at both large tech companies and startups to launch product features, build internal tools, and operate large systems. She currently works at Google in SRE.

Cathy is a co-author of Reliable Machine Learning (O’Reilly), a book written by experienced engineering leaders about what it takes to run machine learning systems reliably in production. The book reflects her hands-on experience bringing reliability and site reliability engineering discipline to ML-powered products.

Her coaching is grounded in both technical and organizational depth: a BS in Electrical Engineering from UC Berkeley and an MA in Organizational Psychology from Teachers College at Columbia University. Cathy lives with her partner in Pittsburgh, PA, where she helps tech leaders build resilient, high-performing teams.
