Aditya Gautam is an AI researcher and engineer who has built machine learning systems at some of the world’s largest technology companies. He started out as an embedded systems engineer at Qualcomm in India before moving to Carnegie Mellon University for his Master’s, where a machine learning lecture from Tom Mitchell set him on a new path. From there he worked on estimate algorithms at Zillow, spent three and a half years at Google during the era when BERT and Transformer models reshaped the field, and later joined Meta, where he has worked on Reels, tackling recommendation ranking problems and studying how generative models are changing traditional discriminative and two-tower architectures.

His research spans multimodal understanding for short-form video, multi-agent systems, and LLM evaluation. He has published in top-tier conferences such as ICWSM and serves as a peer reviewer for venues including NeurIPS, ICML, and AAAI.

Beyond hands-on engineering, Aditya is an active voice in the AI community. He speaks at industry events such as the Databricks Data + AI Summit and Analytics Vidhya, and shares insights on the economics of LLMs, the practical adoption of AI agents, and responsible deployment, including the policy, economic, and geopolitical questions raised by the current wave of AI innovation.
