Wendy Mak is a data scientist working for an esports platform in London. Her career has deliberately crossed role boundaries: she has worked as a full stack software engineer, a data engineer, a data visualization engineer, and as the data person at a startup. That mix means she understands the whole pipeline, from application code and data infrastructure through to the models and visualizations that turn data into decisions.

Because she has sat on both the engineering and data science sides of the fence, Wendy brings a builder’s mindset to data science work. She knows what it takes to ship software that survives production, and she applies that discipline to the models and analyses she builds.

In her spare time, Wendy likes to tinker with random data and ML related side projects, and she balances time at the keyboard with cycling.
