Thom Ives is a leading data scientist and the founder of Integrated Machine Learning & AI, a very large and active community of data scientists who share a simple goal: to grow and learn more together. Through the group, Thom mentors practitioners at every stage of their careers and champions the idea that data science is learned best in the open, with people helping people.

His technical background is unusually broad. Thom has developed a wide range of analytical models grounded in data, multi-physics simulations, and hands-on experiments, giving him an engineer’s respect for measurement and rigor. While he genuinely loves predictive modeling, his deepest conviction is that most machine learning failures start long before the model: data has to be clean from collection all the way to storage for an organization to get the greatest overall return on its data. That philosophy shows up in his work on feature engineering, model monitoring, and data governance, along with his emphasis on data storytelling, business acumen, and role clarity for data teams.

Thom lives in Eagle, Idaho. He is married, has nine children, four biological and five internationally adopted, an awesome son-in-law, and a habit of regularly adopting amazing people from around the world.
