Sedat Kapanoglu is a self-taught programmer with more than 25 years of experience in software, a path that has taken him from building consumer products loved by millions to working as a software engineer at Microsoft.
He is best known as the creator of Ekşi Sözlük, the number one social media platform for Turkish-speaking audiences. Building and running a community platform at that scale gave him hard-won lessons in engineering for real users, real traffic, and real-world constraints rather than textbook ideals.
Those lessons became his book Street Coder, published by Manning, which takes a pragmatic, question-everything approach to software development and shows working developers which rules actually matter and why. Through his products, his writing, and his code, Sedat remains a strong advocate for practical, down-to-earth engineering.
