Sadat Anwar is a Data Science Manager who enjoys working with his people and team at the centre. He firmly believes in taking a people-centric approach to building great engineering teams that conquer even greater engineering challenges, and he brings that mindset to everything from hiring and conflict resolution to documenting leadership evidence and measuring managerial impact.
His technical foundation is deep. With a background in electronics and informatics, including a master’s thesis on neural networks, Sadat started out as a software engineer passionate about building products to solve problems, often finding that the most complex problems can be solved by simple and elegant solutions. He researched computer vision at Fraunhofer and later worked on production search at OLX, with hands-on experience in Solr autoscaling, decoupling search from a monolith, and Kotlin services paired with Python ML components.
Today, Sadat leads data science teams with responsibilities spanning NLP, trust and safety, and fraud detection. He loves exploring data and tries to keep an unbiased view on the story it has to tell. He speaks Java, Scala, Python, and English.
