Roy Jafari

Roy Jafari, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of business analytics at the University of Redlands, where he has taught and developed college-level courses across the data field, including data cleaning, decision making, data science, machine learning, and optimization.

Roy’s teaching style is hands-on. He believes the best way to learn is by doing, and he uses an active learning philosophy in his classroom and his books, so that students and readers practice every concept as they meet it.

That philosophy shaped his book Hands-On Data Preprocessing in Python. Roy’s central belief is that successful data preprocessing only happens when you are equipped with the most efficient tools, have an appropriate understanding of data analytic goals, are aware of data preprocessing steps, and can compare a variety of methods. It is a practical mindset he passes on to every learner he works with.
