Roksolana Diachuk works as a Big Data Engineer at Captify, where she builds the large-scale data pipelines behind a global technology platform. Her daily work spans ETL pipelines, storage, and the kind of Spark and cluster performance tuning that keeps big data systems fast and dependable.
Her path began with software engineering: she holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from a university in Kyiv and started her career as a backend engineer working mostly in Java. She then moved into big data engineering and adopted Scala as her main language, gaining experience at companies including Ciklum and working with technologies that range from Spark to Kubernetes.
Beyond engineering, Roksolana is a Women Who Code Kyiv lead and mentor and a Diversity and Inclusion ambassador in the Ukrainian region. She is a frequent speaker on Big Data, Scala, and Kubernetes, including her DataTalks.Club talk comparing the big data engineer and data scientist roles, and she enjoys building technical talks around fairytales and discovering new cities.
