Mikio Braun has spent his career answering one question from many angles: how do you turn machine learning research into products that work in the real world? He started out as an ML researcher at TU Berlin before moving into industry, holding positions dedicated to putting machine learning products into production at two of Europe’s unicorn startups, Zalando and GetYourGuide.
Today Mikio consults for companies on how to make the best use of machine learning, looking at the whole picture from technical infrastructure to product development. He also works as a freelancer in machine learning, and shares practical lessons on pricing, client acquisition, and delivering production systems for clients. He writes about machine learning and engineering on his blog, and he has spoken at industry events, including a talk on putting data science in production that examines which tools actually help teams ship ML.
His combination of research depth and production experience makes him a grounded voice on what it really takes to run machine learning in industry, beyond the hype and the tooling sprawl.
