Mike Munn is an ML solutions engineer at Google Cloud. He helps customers design, implement, and deploy machine learning models, guiding them from raw ideas and messy data through to systems that work reliably in production. That role puts him face to face with the practical challenges of applied ML: choosing the right architecture for the problem, avoiding common pitfalls, and making models operable in real cloud environments.
Mike is also a teacher. In Google’s Advanced Solutions Lab he teaches the ML Immersion Program, an intensive curriculum that takes engineers deep into machine learning on Google Cloud, and his classroom experience informs the clear, example-driven way he explains ML concepts.
He is a co-author of Machine Learning Design Patterns, published by O’Reilly together with Valliappa Lakshmanan and Sara Robinson. The book catalogues reusable solutions to recurring problems in machine learning, from data representation and model training to responsible AI, reflecting Mike’s conviction that machine learning benefits from the same pattern-driven engineering discipline as software development.
