Maria Vechtomova is a co-founder of Cauchy, where she specializes in AI strategy, AI engineering, and AI training. She has worked in data and AI since 2014, across large corporate organizations and in roles ranging from data analyst and data scientist to MLOps tech lead and manager. She has focused on MLOps for most of her career, since long before the term was widely used, and her roots in econometrics still show in the analytical rigor she brings to engineering decisions.
Maria believes that AI delivers value only when it is in production, integrated into business processes, and supported by reliable systems. That philosophy shows up in her pragmatic approach to MLOps: reusable CI/CD pipelines, standardized repositories, model registries, monitoring, and the organizational buy-in needed to make it all stick. She has applied these practices to real use cases such as demand forecasting and personalization in retail, and to early LLM pilots with their particular cost and GPU constraints.
A passionate educator, Maria has taught MLOps and LLMOps to more than three hundred students through online cohort-based courses. She has extensive experience with Databricks and has been recognized as a Databricks MVP and MLflow Ambassador. She is the author of MLOps with Databricks: Machine Learning and GenAI Applications End to End, published by O’Reilly.
