Mariano Semelman is a Lead Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer with over 10 years of experience in e-commerce. At OLX, he works on AI-powered media solutions that simplify the listing process for sellers, applying generative AI to a problem that millions of users touch directly: turning photos and intent into published listings with as little friction as possible.

Mariano focuses on building end-to-end solutions, owning the path from notebook to production, and he explores how agentic tools can make the journey from research to production more seamless. He is a hands-on practitioner of GenAI engineering, working at the point where models, data pipelines, and product meet.

Originally from Argentina, Mariano moved to Berlin and now lives in Barcelona. His career at OLX has progressed from senior data scientist to data science manager and head of data science, giving him firsthand experience with both the technical and people sides of data science leadership.
