Lisa Cohen is a Director of Data Science at Twitter. She leads an organization of 70 data scientists focused on driving the strategy and direction of the Twitter product, combining machine learning, experimentation, and causal analyses to inform product decisions. Her team partners closely with Engineering, Product, Design, and Research, and Lisa has deep practical experience with the organizational questions that come with scale: centralized versus embedded models, staffing ratios, experiment review, defining success metrics, and building the planning rhythms that keep data science aligned with the business.
Before Twitter, Lisa led the Azure Customer Growth Analytics organization as part of Microsoft Cloud Data sciences. Her team was responsible for analyzing OKRs, informing data-driven decisions, and developing data science models that helped customers succeed on Azure. Lisa spent 17 years at Microsoft in total, and earlier in her tenure she helped develop multiple versions of Visual Studio.
Lisa holds Bachelor and Masters degrees from Harvard in Applied Mathematics, a foundation that continues to shape her rigorous, quantitative approach to leadership. She is a frequent voice on designing high-impact data science organizations and on how analytics and machine learning teams can partner effectively with product and engineering.
