Jan Zawadzki is the Head of Artificial Intelligence at CARIAD SE, the central software development company of the Volkswagen Group. His team aims to push the boundaries of the software-enabled car of the future with the help of machine learning, working on problems where AI meets one of the most complex and safety-critical products in the world.

Jan is passionate about advancing the automotive industry through machine learning, and equally passionate about sharing what he knows along the way. He writes and speaks on both AI and project management, including a talk at the DataTalks.Club 2021 Summer Marathon on setting up AI projects for success, which tackled the hard truth that a large share of AI projects never make it to production and what teams can do differently. He is a top contributor to the Towards Data Science publication on Medium, where his articles make ML topics practical for working engineers.

Beyond his own writing, Jan enjoys supporting the team around deep learning luminary Andrew Ng, contributing to the broader community that is educating the next generation of AI practitioners.
