Igor Susmelj is a co-founder at Lightly, an ETH Spin-Off based in Zurich that is working on a novel data curation platform. At Lightly, he helps machine learning teams curate and select the data that powers their models, tackling one of the most important and often overlooked problems in applied AI: the quality of training datasets.

Before founding Lightly, Igor spent two years as a software engineer in the innovation lab of a financial institution, where he gained experience turning emerging technology into working products in a regulated industry.

Igor holds a degree in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich. During his studies he built extensive experience in machine learning and robotics and authored multiple successful publications in the area of deep learning, a research foundation he now applies to building data-centric machine learning products in production.
