Hagop Dippel is an Applied Scientist at Zalando, where he focuses on building demand forecasting and inventory optimisation applications. Forecasting what millions of customers will want, and when, is one of the highest-leverage problems in e-commerce, and Hagop works on it at industrial scale, where a better model translates directly into better availability and less waste.
What sets Hagop apart is his enjoyment of the full journey of an idea: taking results from research papers and carrying them through to end-2-end production systems that behave reliably in the real world. He is passionate about deep learning applied to genuine industry use cases, and equally about human-centered AI, the discipline of keeping technology aligned with the people who use and are affected by it.
Hagop studied Data Science and Econometrics at Aix-Marseille University in France, a pairing that serves him well when models meet business decisions. In his free time, you can find him cycling or running, and he is happy to hear from anyone who wants to jog and chat about machine learning at the same time.
