Duygu Altinok is a senior NLP engineer with 12 years of experience covering almost all areas of natural language processing, including search engine technology, speech recognition, text analytics, and conversational AI. Over that time she has authored several NLP publications at conferences such as LREC and CLNLP, and she enjoys working on open source projects as a contributor to the widely used spaCy library.

She is also the author of Mastering spaCy, a book that helps practitioners build real-world NLP pipelines with the library, extending her open source work into teaching. Duygu earned her undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from METU, Ankara in 2010 and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Bilkent University, Ankara in 2012, a quantitative foundation she draws on throughout her NLP work.

Currently, Duygu is a senior engineer at German Autolabs, focusing on conversational AI for voice assistants. Originally from Istanbul, she resides in Berlin, DE with her cute dog Adele.
