Dr. Denise Gosnell’s passion for examining, applying, and evangelizing graph data was ignited during her apprenticeship under Dr. Teresa Haynes and Dr. Debra Knisley as part of her first NSF Fellowship. That group’s research represented one of the earliest applications of neural networks and graph theoretic structure in predictive computational biology, and it set the course for a career spent at the forefront of graph technology. Since then, Denise has built, published, and patented work spanning graph theory, graph algorithms, graph databases, and applications of graph data across virtually every industry vertical.

A recognized voice in the graph community, Denise is the author of The Practitioner’s Guide to Graph Data, a hands-on book that teaches graph thinking at the intersection of graph theory, database schema, distributed systems, and data analysis. She has spoken at more than a dozen conferences, sharing practical lessons on modeling connected data at scale.

Currently, Denise is with DataStax, where she builds on her experience as a data scientist and graph architect to help organizations put graph technology to work. Prior to DataStax, she built software solutions in areas such as permissioned blockchains, machine learning applications of graph analytics, and data science in the healthcare industry.
