Demetrios Brinkmann is a community builder at heart, constantly creating as he navigates this thing we call life. In April 2020 he fell into leading the MLOps community, which aims to bring clarity around the operational side of machine learning. What started as an experiment became the largest and most active community in the field, boasting thousands of Slack members and tens of thousands of YouTube views across videos on machine learning operations themes, with experts from all over the world coming together daily to unblock each other and share their vision of the landscape.

Running the community has taken Demetrios deep into the practical craft of growing technical communities: recruiting speakers, running meetups, producing content and YouTube clips, moving from founder-led to peer-to-peer governance, and cultivating the core contributors and advisory groups that keep an ecosystem alive. Having spent the last 10 years in the Basque Country before recently moving to the German countryside, he brings a European sensibility to a global community.

Since diving into the nitty gritty of machine learning, Demetrios has also felt a strong calling to explore the ethical issues surrounding the technology he covers, pushing the community to talk about responsible AI alongside tooling and practice.
