Dan Becker’s data science career took off when he finished 2nd out of 1353 teams in a Kaggle competition with a $500,000 grand prize. He went on to work as a data scientist at Google and served as Product Director in the early days of DataRobot, experiences that grounded him in both the technical and product sides of machine learning.

Today Dan is the Founder and CEO of Decision AI, where he focuses on prescriptive analytics and decision optimization: connecting ML predictions to the decisions that create business value. His work spans supply chain optimization, pricing and bidding, and resource allocation, combining machine learning forecasts with optimization tools such as OR-Tools, Gurobi, and Pyomo. He has spoken at DataTalks.Club’s conference on translating ML predictions into better real-world results.

Dan has contributed to both the TensorFlow and Keras deep learning libraries, and over 250,000 people have taken his online deep learning courses. He has also led data science consulting projects for six Fortune 100 companies, a track record of turning cutting-edge methods into measurable business outcomes.
