Agostino Calamia is a Senior Data Scientist at Shopify, where he applies a background that spans ecommerce and fintech to large-scale machine learning problems.

Before joining Shopify, he worked at N26 during the years when the company transformed from a small startup into one of Germany’s biggest banks. Growing with a scale-up like that taught him what it takes to standardize machine learning development in fast-moving organizations, including environments with more than 300 data scientists working side by side.

That experience shaped his core professional interest: delivering high quality ML models without reinventing the process every time. To resolve the tension between speed and quality, Agostino created his own framework for developing models, turning lessons from both ecommerce and fintech into a repeatable approach for building machine learning that ships.
