Agita Jaunzeme has designed a career spanning DevOps and DataOps engineering, management, community building, education, and facilitation. She has worked on projects across corporate, startup, open source, and non-governmental sectors, a range of environments that taught her how engineering practices translate, and sometimes fail to translate, between very different organizational cultures.

Her technical path started with trade school and web design, moved through computer science education and software development, and transitioned into DevOps through configuration management and early automation work. Along the way she learned how automation and DevOps practices carry over into data engineering and DataOps, and how open source participation builds both skills and credibility.

Following her passion for community and inclusion, Agita founded an NGO focusing on the inclusion of expats and locals in Porto, and she has used volunteering and community work as deliberate vehicles for hands-on experience and network building. Embodying the values of innovation, automation, and continuous learning, she now provides practical insights on promotions, career pivots, and aligning work with passion and purpose.
